Chowdhury was found lying on the sidewalk bleeding from his ear and was rushed to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a fractured skull and brain bleeding.

Chowdhury's nephew, Jamil Ahmed, shared that his uncle is now off the respirator and able to communicate. She called for the perpetrators to be detained for a longer period, stating that releasing them on the same day of arrest is not justice. During visits from Mayor Eric Adams and Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark, she urged them to take the incident seriously and emphasized her husband's dedication to serving the city.

As Chowdhury's condition continues to be monitored, his wife hopes that he will not require surgery and can return home soon. The incident underscores the need for attention to racial attacks and the importance of ensuring justice for victims who serve their communities.
